Event planning can be stressful, no matter what the event is that you are planning. A lot of work goes into events. Invitations, reservations, food, drinks, entertainment, the list can go on and on. So how do you keep a straight head and get everything accomplished?

If you are a beginner at planning events these event planning tips should help you plan your event and eliminate some headaches .

  1. Invitations: You have the event idea in your head, whether it be a birthday party, a retirement ceremony, a wedding, or a reunion. Whatever the event is you probably also have a list of people you want to invite. So invite them! The first step is determining who you want to invite and getting those invitations out as soon as possible so that you give your guests plenty of time to respond. Once they have responded  you will have an estimate of those who will be attending and be able to start getting what you need for your event based on the estimated number of people attending.
  2. Make a checklist: It sounds very elementary, but writing things down in order of priority can really help you stay on top of things. Often times things in the process can be left out or forgotten, but making a checklist will help you not to forget your next task. If you like to write it on a pad of paper or type it into your phone, it will prove beneficial either way. Organization in planning an event is important. So make that list and get the ball rolling.
  3. Budget: Creating a budget will help you in the long run. Now that you have a checklist of tasks and some of those tasks include buying things. Have an amount that you can spend. If you don’t you may go overboard and spend money on things that are not needed when it’s all said and done. It is never good to run out of money before the event is finished.
  4. Bookings and reservations: Assuming you have sent out invitations to the appropriate people and they have stated that they would be in attendance, it is time for you to finalize all bookings and reservations. Reserving in advance is important so that you can ensure that you have a space for your event. It also gives you time to ‘shop around’ for the perfect space to hold your event. Also if you are getting a caterer the earlier you book the better. One last thing, don’t forget to book the entertainment! All these things need to be booked in advance to have the best results for your events.

All in all, event planning always comes back to organization. Being able to get your brilliant ideas out of your head and make them a reality takes time and patience. Therefore, having a process helps. Having a checklist will keep you on task, while the budget will help you to get the most for your money. Inviting guests and making reservations in a timely manner will ensure that people come to your event and that you are able to acquire the perfect space for them.
