Christmas in Fort Walton Beach is a joyous event-filled season marked by mild temperatures and contagious holiday spirits. This is one of our favorite times of the year. Our beaches are less crowded and we’re able to enjoy sunny days and mild temperatures on our sugar-white beaches (although we must admit, the water is a tad too chilly to enjoy). Once we’re done in the sun, there are a ton of Christmas activities to enjoy. Let’s look at what Christmas looks like in Fort Walton Beach!
Baytowne Wharf offers nightly ice skating through the holidays. Prices are $11 to skate with a $3 skate rental. Santa can be spotted at all sorts of events around our area, however, don’t miss the opportunity to have lunch with Santa at Aj’s at Cinco Bayou, on December 16th at 2 pm. This special occasion helps support the Angel Tree program in the area. This year, the activities will include a Home Depot Kids’ workshop, candy cane, and Christmas ornament making, cookie decorating, face painting, spin art, writing letters to Santa, hot chocolate, and a visit with the Big Guy, himself.
If you’re looking for some evening entertainment, a quick drive down 98 will take you to Zoo Lights. On this adventure, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the display of thousands of holiday lights throughout the Zoo, as well as visiting zoo animals available for photos. On December 13th, at 7 pm, you could visit Noah and Heather’s Maximum Magic Show to enjoy comedy, optical illusions, special effects, and audience participation. Tickets start at $15 for children 3 to 12 and $27 for adults. You might want to cruise through Sowell’s North Pole Drive Thru Christmas Lights Display. This annual Christmas light show is open nightly between December 1st and December 27th, from 5:30 pm to 9 pm. This is a drive-thru display, at a cost of $10 per car. Train rides are also available for additional fees.
For another evening full of holiday excitement, grab the family and attend A Very Electric Christmas on December 22nd at 7 pm or Dec. 23rd at 2:30 pm. Tickets will run $35 for adults, $15 for children under 12. This fantastic performance shares a tale of friendship and hope set to popular holiday hits. The Northwest Florida Ballet was a finalist on America’s Got Talent with their hypnotic light performance which you’re certain to enjoy! As the big day approaches, you’ll appreciate the opportunity to see a live Nativity. Hosted each year by First Baptist Church, this nativity includes goats, sheep, miniature ponies, and camels. Photo opportunities with the actors playing Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus are also available. Dates are December 15th through the 20th, from 6 to 8 pm. No charge.
On Christmas Day, Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort and Spa is hosting a Christmas Day Feast. This luncheon is a spread fit for kings! 11:30 am – 3 pm, Reservations 850-267-9500 ext. 44, Adults $43.95, children 6-12 $16.95.
Once Christmas has come and gone, the festivities are far from over. Baytowne Wharf will be throwing a New Year’s Eve Celebration with live music, kid-friendly events, entertainment, and fireworks. The event starts at 6 pm and is free. Another party is being thrown at HarborWalk Village. You can dine, drink, dance, and party throughout the village.
We hope we’ve provided you with some ideas for holiday events you and your family can enjoy! From all of us here at The Breakers, we wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We look forward to seeing you in 2018!
