Christmas at the Beach
During the holiday season, it is common to find communities that host different holiday races. These events are a perfect way to move your body during a season when we prefer to remain still. Fort Walton Beach will be bringing back the Christmas at the Beach event this year. This is our yearly Christmas themed 5K that offers a picturesque background of Fort Walton Beach. This holiday run has you running through the sand instead of the snow and offers age group awards that are always a treat to receive. There are spots for everyone from young children under 9 years of age to the seasoned runners of ages 70+. Each entry will get you an exclusive participation shirt, a wonderful finisher medal, and time to celebrate with your fellow racers after the event has concluded. This year’s Christmas at the Beach will take place on December 14th just in time for the holidays.
Cruisin’ into Christmas 8th Annual Festival of Trees
Another common holiday event that can be found all over is a Festival of Trees. This type of event showcases many different Christmas Trees that are sponsored and decorated by local businesses often with proceeds benefitting a local charity. You can find a local Festival of Trees taking place over at Emerald Coast Harley Davidson with their 8th Annual Cruisin’ Into Christmas Festival of Trees. This annual event is a festival of trees in addition to many more lovely activities. The event will have a catered dinner along with adult beverages and live entertainment. Live and silent auctions will also be on hand where the decorated trees will actually be raffled off. Tickets are on sale now for this wonderful event taking place on Thursday December 5th from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
The Festival of Trees
Harley Davidson’s Cruisin’ into Christmas is not the only festival of trees taking place here in Fort Walton Beach. You will also find the Fort Walton Beach Woman’s Club to also be hosting their Festival of Trees taking place from December 1st through the 16th. A variety of local businesses including Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park, Fort Walton Beach Public Library, and many more have already signed up to sponsor a holiday tree they will decorate. This two-week event lets you and your family browse the wonderfully decorated trees. There will also be a photo contest for the chance to win exciting prizes including the Mayor’s Award too. This free event will have additional information available soon including the location of this year’s Festival of Trees.
Holiday Pops: Christmas on Broadway
Nothing quite says the holidays quite like a holiday themed stage production for the whole family. Fort Walton Beach is home to the Mattie Kelly Arts Center that is part of the Northwest Florida State college. Here you will find the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra putting on incredible shows all year round. This includes the holiday season where unique events will take place. This year take your family to Holiday Pops: Christmas on Broadway, one of the center’s most popular holiday events in Fort Walton Beach, FL for the year. This year’s event will feature Broadway actress Grace Morgan as she highlights songs from many Broadway and Disney productions along with traditional holiday music. In addition to Grace Morgan the performance will also feature The NFSO Chorale, Unified Gospel Choir, and the Voices of Northwest Florida. Don’t miss this unique experience taking place on December 6th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
The Grinch in Concert
Another great stage production you do not want to miss this holiday season is The Grinch in Concert. This cherished production will perform the score from both the classic animated movie and live action movie. Expect to have your heart grow three times bigger with this timeless tale of the holiday season. The Grinch in Concert will take place on December 14th over at the Fort Walton Beach Convention Center. Tickets are on sale now and start at $40 per person.
